What Maher says bounces off Palin and sticks like glue

The comments by Terry Dougherty, editor of Women magazine, in the FOXNews story about 'comedian' Bill Maher using inappropriate gender based language to describe Sarah Palin isn't exactly true. While NOW, the National Organization for Women, remained silent on the matter, Dougherty suggested that Maher would not use a similar term to describe a man.

It's not out of the realm of possibility to hear Maher refer to a conservative male politician as a p_d, somewhat of the male equivalent of what he called Palin. Of course, the difference here is that, to follow the oft-used child response, "whatever you say bounces off of me and sticks to you."

Frankly, I think that still works in the case of what Maher called Palin. Clearly, the entire monologue was based on reinforcing the unsubstantiated case against Palin's intelligence. Palin did not reach the position of governor of Alaska through a lack of intellect. Whether she's the brightest bulb in the box or not, she clearly has brains that shine sufficiently to build a significant political career and, since resigning her position as governor, to carry her in a position as an advocate for conservative values.

Palin, however, a strong and confident woman, is a threat to Maher's ideology, which, in turn, is the excuse for his 'humor.' I have not heard a word out of Maher's mouth that isn't intended as a bullet aimed at the heart of the conservative world. It's clear, as akin to a spoiled 2-year-old, Maher has a burning resentment against conservatives and conservative values.

Instead of spending his time wasting and abusing the God given intellectual capacity he has on visceral attacks against someone who has never lifted a finger against him, maybe he should get over it already and think about ways that he can bring actual joy into peoples' lives through laughter. Of course, Maher exists in an age where cheap laughs through spotty language are the oft and easy alternative to actual humor. Besides, Maher's a bit too much of a (what he said about Palin) to ever be that reasonable.
