Did you hear the part of Obama’s speech today defending his proposed budget where he said that everyone needs to put politics aside and have an adult conversation? Isn’t it amazing that, from both sides of the aisle, even from his lapdog friends in the media, he’s receiving pushback based on the political nature of his proposal?
Actually, there’s nothing amazing about it. In reality, it’s old hat. It symbolizes and sums up his presidency: say one thing when you mean another – say anything as long as it offers political mileage.
I’m baffled that there are still people out there defending, maybe not Obama, but at least his sincerity. Was it today or yesterday that I heard Michael Medved do as much? People were suggesting that Obama is sacrificing his political future over his radical Left ideology. In other words, they were suggesting that, win or lose, Obama’s primary goal is to take this country as far to the Left as possible.
For me, it’s less of a question of whether he intends to move us to the Left regardless of the political costs than whether he’s willing to move us to the Left regardless of any national security concerns. The strength of this country starts with the freedom and liberty that operates in tandem with our free-market economy. While Obama now occasionally gives lip service to supporting the free market, his words are DOA for anyone who has paid attention over the course of the last two years.
Is Obama sincere? Certainly, but not in line with his words. He has an agenda. I happen to think that agenda includes redistribution of wealth, and at any cost, and reducing the influence of the United States in favor of a liberal one-world-now fantasy.
A while back, Janet Napolitano’s department put out a report suggesting there was reason to worry about right-wing terrorists. The report suggested that the right-wing terrorists would most likely come from the ranks of former military. On the one hand, such a fear is logical when those in power are pushing a radical agenda that is so deeply and consistently at odds with the Constitution. Supporters of the Constitution might just be willing to defend the principles borne in that document.
On the other hand, from the administration’s one-world perspective, people on the right, failing to fall in line with the Left’s one-world vision, are seen more on the outside than liberals from other countries. In my humble opinion, Obama’s actions betray his loyalties and anyone who thinks the president’s loyalties rest, first and foremost, with our country and the Constitution he vowed to uphold and defend probably think Obama is sincere when he chastises Republicans about working together on the budget.
